I get a very Germanic vibe from it. A little bit vintage. It’s a nice name.

My honest opinion is that it is a really nice name. It seems like a name that could fit many different personalities, which I like.

I’ve like every Gretchen I’ve ever known... all two of them. Both had German heritage. I also get a very Germanic image. It will fit a child and an adult, so if you love, it, go for it.

I personally like the name Gretchen. It still feels very European to me, and I imagine it on a little blonde girl. I would imagine a Gretchen to be sharp (I mean this as witty and intelligent), practical, candid, and not bratty.

I don’t think it’s a bad name, per se, definitely better than some names I see on here (Harper, Mykynzee, etc), but I see an old granny who loves the cook and clean. A gentle granny, but still a granny. I think this name has to let a few more years pass before making a comeback.

I’m a Malcolm in the Middle freak, so every time I hear the name Gretchen, I think of a bubbly, German, around fifty year old woman who loves to clean and is extremely generous and nice.
