Rare vs. girl’s vs. name?

I’m looking for a RARE, uncommon baby girl’s name. One that isn’t in the top 20 or even top 500. A name that you may have only heard or read once. I’m not looking for unusual like Nevaeh, Skye, Lux,... or anything made up sounding, ridiculous sounding,... Thanks!!!!!

Are you looking for something traditional that’s no longer popular? Then you might try Agnes, Agatha, Martha, Ethel, Winifred.

Or are you looking for something more modern (which can sound a little "made up")? Then try Juniper, Amaryllis, Talulah, or Raina.

I’m looking for neither. My daughter’s name is Amara. It’s rare, has never been popular, and isn’t made up. I now need another name. I like Tamsin and Aurelia but I really don’t think my husband will like either of those. Any other suggestions? Thanks for the help!!

I think Amara and Delia would be very pretty together :)

Amara is pretty, but it sounds either made-up or foreign, which is what happens when you select a really unusual name.

I hardly think my daughter’s name sounds made-up or foreign. Lastly, it’s hardly unusual. ;-)

Delia is my stepmother’s name. My main problem is, my husband doesn’t like anything. Naming a second child is much harder than naming the first. I do appreciate all of your help. Anything else?

For the record, Amara is currently ranked #578 so it’s a little more popular than you think. I’m using Nymbler to find some suggestions for you and none of these are in the top 1000.

I really like Annika (although I wouldn’t spell it that way), Seraphina, and Zara. I also like Kaia, but my nieces name is Maiya. Seraphina is probably at the top of my list! Thanks!

Amara is a GORGEOUS name! At University we had a beautiful friend with long, mermaidy hair named Amara Seabrook and I have adored the name ever since! I would go for one of the following to match that beauty:

Zelia ("Sunshine" in Spanish)

Solana (also means "Sunshine" in Spanish)

Zerlina ("Beautiful Dawn" in Spanish and Latin)

Paloma ("Dove" in Spanish)

Calandra ("Lark" in Greek~one of my Top 5 Names if we have another daughter!)

Calanthe ("Beautiful Flower" in Greek)

Lomasi ("Pretty Flower" in Native American)

Soraya ("Star; Princess" in Persian~my precious youngest daughter’s middle name and my personal favourite to go with Amara!)

Asante Sana ("Thank You Very Much" in Swahili)

Bibiana ("Lively" in Latin)

I hope you might like at least one of these! God bless and all the VERY best! :)
