Vicki short for Victoria(read below carefully) vs. Thumbs Up vs. Thumbs Down
Hello here! I am really in love with name Victoria. It’s got cl[removed]tyle and everything you want for a name, but I am at loss for nicknames. I HATE every nickname for it with passion (Rhia, Tori, Plum, Vita, Rhi and so) except for Vicky. That’s one I truly love but I have been told a billion times it’s awful, dated and better left to mom’s. What do you think? Do you like nickname Vicky for a girl?
I don’t need other nickname or name ideas, I just want comments. Thanks!

These retro names are beginning to come back. There are so many called Tori these days, that one is beginning to sound stale to me. Vicky actually sounds fresher. If you love it best, I say it works just fine. Another seldom heard nickname for Victoria I like a lot is Vix.

@poster 1:Tory and Toria are out because I know a Tori who was a...khm, woman of [removed] behavior. And I just don’t like how showy it sounds.
Thanks, @poster 2, I forget Vix! That’s my second favorite as well.

I like Vicki spelled with a i not a y. Don’t know why it matters but looks more modern to me.

Vix is awful. People will think it’s short for Vixen. Also makes me think of Vicks vapor rub. Nothing wrong with Vicky/Vicki.

My name is Vicki, short for Victoria. My dad named me after singer Vikki Carr.
Ugh! after reading comments from this site and another about names, I now pretty much hate my name. It sounds like people find it off-putting, ugly and harsh. I didn’t know any other Vickis when I was growing up, mostly girls about 7-8 years older had that name. It wasn’t as popular for babies born in the late 60’s. I didn’t particularly like it when I was growing up. I wish it would somehow make a comeback and a beautiful, popular song would be written with my name. Maybe it would help it to have a better connotation. I never (at least to my face) was called "Icky Vicky", but I was a shy girl and didn’t offend many people. I am in my mid 40’s. If I was younger, I believe I would change it. I never realized that so many people don’t like it. My husband calls me Vix sometimes, which I love. Luckily he likes my name, at least, and knew cute girls named Vicki overseas, where he grew up. My parents called me Tori for a very short while as a kid, but my sister’s name was Lori, so that quickly became confusing. Oh well, I wish my mom’s choice of Krista would have won, or anything prettier sounding than my name-maybe Vanessa, that sounds sexier.. Don’t you wish you could pick your own name?
