Freddie vs. for a girl
I always like tomboyish nicknames on girls but I need a full name for Freddie, other than Winifred. Ideas? I like how British and old school it is. I’m British btw. Thanks

No Freddie is not a unisex name and in Britain would be even worse for a girl to live with.

I agree with poster 1. In the US it might be more acceptable, since more names are considered unisex there, but here in Britain, I really don’t think Freddie is a good idea for a girl, no matter what her full name is. I think the child will make her nickname tomboyish, not giving a girl a masculine name.

Agree with posters 1 & 4, in UK Freddie for a girl would be terrible for her. Not many names are unisex here and most are considered chavvy/trashy.

You could do a Fr first name like Freya and something like Edith or an ed middle name and call her Freddie.

I think Frankie is a little cuter and exceptable. Like if you’ve seen the show the middle, the moms name is Frankie (Francis) and I think thats cute!

Its a nickname, and if she didn’t like it she could always just use her first name. A lot of over reacting to a nickname. Brits have crazy nicknames.

I’m British and I think Freddie would be considered a posh girls names actually, not chavvy. Chavvy names are like Riley or Hayden etc. I like it

Honestly for a girl it is very chavvy, for a boy nice.
