I like James and John or jack. I HATE Jack as a nickname for John because they’re both the same lenght anyway so it’s just like giving the child two names and that’s confusing.

Thanks for the feedback. DH is fairly traditional and thinks that Jack is a nn for John not a "proper" name in its own right. I know others will disagree.

Honestly, they are all very traditional and don’t have much personality to them,
but if I had to pick, I’d choose Samuel and call him Sam. It is boyish, yet something that he could grow into!

I absolutely LOVE James. It’s great! John (nn Jack) is definately my second choice. Edward, (nn Ned) is my third, followed by Thomas, then William, then Samuel. In my opinion, William and Samuel are very, very overused. Good luck.

Thomas -v- Samuel vs. Edward -v- William vs. James -v- John (Jack)
I don’t like Thomas
Samuel is growing on me but I prefer it as a middle name.
I don’t like Edward, either. Edison means son of Edward and I much prefer that name.
William is adorable and Liam is a cute nn or a nice variant.
James is alright. I knew a James "Jamie" and I think that’s cute.
My dad’s name is John and there were so many that everywhere he went he had to be "Jack." I really don’t like the name John. It’s fairly common. I always see John Doe when I think of it. Jack is an adorable nn and a great first name. Jackson might sway your husband, since it is a legitimate name. Or even Jacob, which is derived from James, also.

I love all six names. They’re all so classic and timeless and so they would make a nice change amongst all the Jaydens, Zaydens, Raidens etc.
Thomas- Nice, not too common. Think a prefer as a middle name though
Samuel- like but not my favorite of your names. Sam is a cute nickname
Edward- LOVE! So handsome and underused. Would be very refreshing on a little boy
William- great classic. Can’t go wrong with it. Love nickname Will though I really dislike Liam.
James- Love! Great, strong, classic name.
John "Jack"- Really like Jack as a nickname for John though I’d like just John with no nickname even better. Either way, very refreshing.
Great names, good luck!
