I think Yvan is closest to the pronunciation you want. Ivan, to me is like eye-vun, Evan is eh-vun, and Yvan is like ee-von. Good luck!

I think you should just pronounce it Evan. not Y von. Evan is a great name for a boy, but I don’t think you should pronounce it yvon, it sounds too girlie. Plus, he’s going to constantly have to correct people on how to say his name.

Well, what if I like the Russian pronunciation?!?!?
Then use it, but be prepared for people to make you repeat yourself several times a day.

like Erin said, if spelled "Evan" EVERYONE will pronounce it like it rhymes with heaven... How about spelling it Eeivon? or Eavon (but then again, many might say "Even"). This is a tough one!!! I think the only way you can get the emphasis on the second syllable is by making it end with onne (like Evonne), but then that makes it look kind of feminine.... Good Luck! I’d like to know what you decide!

If you want it pronounced the Russian way, name him Ivan...and then hang around with Russians rather than Swedes or Americans.

Yvan is the French spelling. I'm québécois and it's my son's name! We pronounce it « e » va(n).
« E » is pronounced as the fifth letter in the English alphabet, the (n) is barely pronounced. It affects thd pronunciation of va by bringing the intonation down.
By the way, all three choices look good! Ivan looks Russian to me and Evan looks English.

My family are from Mississippi and one great uncle and one uncle were named after their father and grandfather, respectively. we pronounce the name as two syllables, "E" and "Van." my great grandfather who was the original holder of the name was from Michigan, he had Erbe ancestors mothee that were Swiss Pennsylvania Mennonites and a Weidman ancestors father that were German Mennonites, his wife was an Edgecomb father and a Newell mother who were both English Puritans from New England. Many Swiss speak french. The French pronounce for Evan is similar spoken as "E" and "Va" barely pronouncing the n. The great uncle commonly went by "Van" as his given name. maybe the french pronunciation of a name given my the Swiss ancestry mother was modified by the english puritans.

Yvan seems like it should be pronouned Yev-an
Evan. Just plain Evan.
