Tatum- boy or girl? vs. Petal- as a middle name? vs. Read Below
I have two questions. (1.) Do you consider Tatum to be a girls name or boys name? and (2.) would Petal be too horrible/out there to use as a middle name? I am expecting a girl and so far Tatum and Petal (as a middle name only) are my favorite names. Thanks, Shanna

1. Definitely girl, I only know girl Tatums, one of whom is a very good friend of mine. When I first heard the name, I had no idea it was unisex.
2. It’s ok for only a middle. It’s not the most out there I’ve heard.

Tatum - either gender. I certainly do know of girls named Tatum, although I don’t find it very feminine sounding. But I also know of boys named Tatum, actually quite a few of late. Some are nicknamed Tate but named Tatum formally.

If I heard/saw the name Tatum, I would assume it was a girl. It just sounds girly to me, and the only Tatum’s I can think of are girls. And while I don’t really like the sound of the name Petal, I don’t see a problem with it being a middle name. It’s not the strangest name I’ve ever heard.

Tatum is all boy imo. Petal is pretty though for a middle name. Eloise Petal or Rosalie Petal would be pretty.

Until 2 years ago, I had only heard the name Tatum for a girl. I was sort of surprised to hear someone had named their baby boy Tatum. Petal sounds a little too weird for my taste. I like Tatum Aurora.

Tatum is a unisex name. I like it better as a girls name! So, use it! :)
Personally, I don’t really like Petal in combination with Taturm. I think the middle name of Tatum should be a bit more girly.
