Please Please vs. Help Me

Hi everyone, I am completely frazzled and really need some help with our daughter’s name! To save a long story, my husband wants to name our daughter "Seventeen" for personal reasons (yes, I am serious). I refuse to name my daughter that. However I can’t find anything else that I love or my husband would remotely agree to. I’m pretty much desperate at this point, please give me some suggestions! I’m open to almost everything except for "word names" and boy names/unisex names. We also can’t use anything that starts with "e", "m", "l", or "o". Thank you for your time! ~Rhea

Where exactly would I do that? I know what my personal style is, however since my husband is being so stubborn I am open to pretty much anything at this point. I like Sophie!

You could do Seven or Tina. It’s a good compromise!

Yeah, do not use Seventeen. That is ridiculous.

Seven is too weird and is not even a name to me (I don’t want a word name...or number name?) and Tina is too dated to me

I like Genevieve, Athena, Beatrice, and Alice! I like Penelope & Valentina too but we can’t use them because of family/friends.

You could name her something that in total (first name and middle name) is seventeen letters. Like...
Julianna Katherine
Caroline Lillianna
and so on.

Please make sure you read the small list of letters we can’t use. I like Isla, Violet, Aria, Stella, and Beatrice! I like "Lilah" but we can’t use it because it begins with L

My only issue with using that idea of seventeen letters is that using a family name as a middle name means so much to me; and I’d really like to honor my mother (who is no longer with us) and or my mother-in-law (who has done so much for us). I like the name Liliana but we can’t use it because it begins with L.

I like Aurora, Clara, Imogen, and Stella! I like Abigail and Josephine but neither of us are fans of nicknames (our sons don’t have them and we don’t want our daughter to have one either)

How about you find a family name you like (maybe choose a longer one, like at least seven letters) and build around that. You could always do a double middle name (such as Anna Stephanie Cate) or a double-barrel first name (Lucy Marie).

I don’t like double middle names or double-barrel middle names. I also want to pick a middle name that has a lot of meaning to us (such as my mother’s name or my mother-in-law’s name) rather than picking one that would fit a "theme", sorry.

What if the total letters added up to 17? What is your mother/mother-in-law’s name?
posted by guest :: 11 years ago | report
Sorry! Didn’t see the previous post about that!

What about Severine? Sounds like Seventeen, except it’s an ACTUAL name! ;-) good luck!
posted by guest :: 11 years ago | report
What’s are your Mother’s and Mother-in-law’s names???
posted by guest :: 11 years ago | report
Severing is too weird for me, our mothers’ names are Lynn and Lydia

You said you are desperate and would pretty much take anything that isn’t a word or starts with certain letters yet you’re turning down everyone’s suggestions. So....looks like you aren’t up for anything

Aww too bad you can’t use an L name, Lydia is beautiful! Of the ones you said you like, my favourite is Stella. Best of luck to you!!
