Amelia/Mia vs. Eleanor/Ella/Ellie vs. Evelyn/Evie

Hubby and I are trying to agree on a name for our little lady and we need some help. I like all the cutsie nickname names (Mia, Ella, etc). Hubby likes them but only as nicknames and would prefer to give her something more classic as a formal first name. So what do you think? Which name do you like best and should we use the full name or just use the nickname? We could use some middle names for her too. We would prefer something short - one syllable or maybe two. His favorite so far is Pearl, mine is Claire, but we are open to suggestions. Thank you!

Eleanor is a gorgeous name! I love it. It’s a classic name which is cute as a baby name and is looks good on a business card. Having Ellie or Ella as a nickname would be so lovely.

Amelia is quite old fashioned and to be quite honest in my opinion is a bit dated. It reminds me of a member of the royal wannabe.

Evelyn is quite dated to. I met a drag queen/pornstar called Evelyn once. So I personally would not call her that.

I totally disagree with poster 1, IMO Eleanor is the most dated of those names, with Evelyn being second most... however every single one of them is extremely popular for baby girls right now, since vintage names are trendy again.

Personally, I agree that a longer first name is a good idea, but the nicknames are very cute. I love the name Evie with full name Evelyn. You could also consider Genevieve or Evangeline. My second choice would be Amelia/Mia. I love Mia as a nickname for Amelia. I don’t really like Eleanor... just not as pretty to me.
