Davy/Davey/Daviey vs. Davie vs. Daveigh

Help us out, please. I’m expecting my 4th and final baby, a girl. She will be joining sister Tessa, and brothers Rayce and Carter. Our last name is Conrad. Earlier this year we lost my youngest brother David (DJ) in a car accident. We found out we were expecting two weeks to the day after his accident. Immediately we knew that we wanted to name our baby in honor of my brother DJ. Today we found out that our baby is a girl, so we’re going to go with a form of Davy. There are so many spelling options, we’re not sure which is best. Which spelling do you think we should go with? Please no negative comments about the name, it is staying. thank you! Middle name suggestions are welcome. It does NOT have to be a "j" name.

I really dont like Davy on a girl. If you feel you must use Davy why not as a middle name and give her her own name.

Or perhaps give her names that start with D and J and then call her DJ. I like that option.

Or David means beloved so how about a name that uses the same meaning. Amiee, Cara, Charity, Kalila or Myrna. Personally I like Cara or Amiee.

Davalinda- pretty beloved
Davida/Davina/Davonna- beloved

I’m sure your brother wouldn’t want your daughter to have his boy name.

I would go with Dava, Dayva or Davan (pn Day-van)
I think it’s really special that you are honoring your brother. Good luck to you.

It\’s a tough call between Daviey and Davie. Daviey looks just a tad bit odd, but it might be the best way to spell it for a girl\’s name so that it appears more feminine. And I think Daviey/Davie is a cute name for a girl!

I’m personally not a huge fan of the name - what about Davina nn Davie?

I love that you want to honor a special person in your life, but I could never imagine a girl with the name Davey. However, the nickname DJ is adorable for a girl, and would still work on an adult, like on full house, while still giving her an individual name. Especially since your other daughter has such a feminine name like Tessa.

Some examples:
Danica Joy, Daniella Jade, Delaney Justice, Daisy Jillian

My grandmother’s name is Davie Adeline, she goes by Audie. I guess that’s a nickname for Adeline, not really for sure. Her son, my uncle, is named David LaRue. Hence that is why she goes by a nickname.
Either way, the below are cute suggestions:
Davie Adeline
Davie LaRue

I came across this while looking for advice on how to make the name Davey more feminine. Like you, my husband and I want to name a daughter after a loved one named David who has passed away. Although I am not pregnant yet, we talk about names often. I'm disappointed in the people who tried to get you to change it. After all, there are plenty of Jamie's, Alex and Jordan's who are girls with a stereotypical boy name. We liked Daivey as the spelling but now I feel it's to much and like Daivy. Like Daisy but with a V. We also love the nickname DJ so Josephine would be her middle name after my dad who's middle name is Joseph. I'd love if you would comment back what your sweet baby girls spelling and middle names ended up being!

My daughter's name is spelled Davey. All young-ish people (50 and below) love the name, old boomers tend not to like it, but hey, they were **** and totally unoriginal coming up with names. (

My grandmother's name was Davie after her father David who was Irish. She named my father David. I always wished I had been named after her. It would have continued the line and been more distinctive than the common name that I got with several in every class at school and even in my family which caused more confusion. My mom didn't want to give me a boys' name. Grandma did sometimes get mail addressed to Mr. Davie. The spelling Daveigh might help with that.
