Full Name vs. For Nickname vs. "Nani" (Nah-nee)

Hi. My husband and I are expecting twins and have decided on Azazael (Uh-zay-zul) for one and we had chosen Nani (Nah-nee)for the other but now it seems a bit short next to Azazael who will go by "Zay" as a nick name. Do you have any longer names suggestions for the nick name "Nani"? We can’t think of anything. Their names wont change Azazael will stay for twin A and twin B will go by Nani. Spellings for these stay as well. Please don’t be rude. We like unique names. Thanks, Krista and Michael.

I like Nani as it is. It’s Hawaiian right? I don’t really like Azazael and think if you were to change a name this should be the one. Nani and Ezra or Nani and Silas?

We really like Azazael though. And we aren’t exactly changing a name, we are just making it a bit longer. I am not a big fan I’d Silas but I do like Ezra. Thanks.

Are they a boy and a girl? Just a word of caution Azazael is the name of a demon in Judaism and Christianity. I can understand liking unique names but I think naming your kid after something that represents pure evil is too much.

As for Nani the only full names I can think of are Nalani which I think is hawaiian or Nanette which is French.

We do know that Azazel is the name of a fallen angel or demon be we just really love the way it sounds and feels and have agreed to look past it’s undesirable meaning and use the name anyway. We just love it so much and don’t think we can find another that we like as much as Azazael. Oh, and they are a boy and a girl. Azazael is the boy and Nani is the girl. Sorry, forgot to mention that.

I like Nalani, Nanette and Lanani as well. Lanani was suggested by my little sister Mauria.

Azazael has gotta be one of the ugliest names I have ever heard in my life. Congrats, your kid is gonna hate you when he starts school, has to get a job, introduces himself, or has to do anything involving his name for the rest of his life :)

I know I'm superrrrrr late but my nickname as a kid was Nani, coming from Giovanni. I barely get how my family got Nani from Giovanni, but then again Mexicans have a weird way with making nicknames, like my dad being nicknamed Kíke from Enrique. What did you end up naming your baby btw?
