I think it’s still a good name. I prefer Arielle to Ariel, but either way it sounds good with your last name and honestly I think it would be a hard name to pull of if you weren’t a red head. There is always potential teasing with any name, so I wouldn’t read too much into it.

I would not use it myself.

Arielle would be a similar but not connected to the little mermaid, its also the feminine version rather than unisex.

I think Ariel is an okay name. However, I wouldn’t use it because the first thing I think of is the Disney princess Ariel, the mermaid. Plus if I were you I certainly wouldn’t use it because your surname (if this is even a real poll which I somehow doubt) is Fishman, so that just makes me thing of mermaids even more and your daughters are red heads, just like Ariel. If you named your daughter this there would certainly be a lot of teasing. Ariella or Ariela would be a much better choice and I think it is a nicer name anyway. Plus you could use Ariel or Ari as a nickname.

I like Ariel a lot but it reminds me too much of the cartoon little mermaid and with your last name I think kids would tease her of the whole little mermaid and fish connection thing.

I think Ariel is such a sweet name and it is so underused. I say go for it!

I think it would be teased way too much, sure kids will tease but you don’t have to make it easy for them.

Arielle or Aria would be better alternatives.
