Different name vs. Than Nora

My mother insists that my husband and I name our daughter Nora or Norine after her mother. My grandma was named Norine but was called Nora. I love my Grammy but hate the name. My mom said she would be disappointed if we don’t use it. I was thinking maybe Nova as a middle name, but idk if that would be close enough to Nora. We are deciding between Bethany or Kendall for her fn. please help with some creative ideas! Btw her middle name was Ethel, so using her mn is out too :)

Nova is too "teen mom" now imo, Bethany is ok, Kendall I just cant stand Im sorry, all I see and picture with that name is a genitalless Ken Doll or a bratty Kardashian.

Glad I could help! Luckily sometimes it is as simple as using the meaning instead of the name.
Being unbiased about Kendall since you love it both sound nice.

But imo if you use Kendall I think Honora pronounced Honor-rah not Hon-nora would fit a little better. However both are lovely, GL

Noelle doesnt honro your grandmother at all, at least use Noel so they are still the same amount of letters.
I like the idea of Honor better but Noel is cute too.

Thanks everyone. We know Noelle isn’t close to Nora, but that’s okay. We will give her her own name and I’m sure my mom will I’ve her anyway. Most of you like Bethany, but we really like Kendall Noelle. Thanks for the input!

I personally rather like Nora, but if you don’t you shouldn’t have to use it - if your mother wanted to use the name so much she should have done so herself.

I think Honor is a nice compromise.

Personally I much prefer Bethany to Kendall

For the love of.... PLEASE name YOUR child whatever you and your husband love. Your grandmother and mother have already had their turn, it is now yours. They should honor you by having respect for you.

I hate it when people try to tell you what to name your child. Name her what you want and your mom will get over it! Or tell her if she wants to name the child she can come over at 3 a.m. and feed her too!
