Rio vs. For a girl

Hi, I did a poll last night about using the name Rio for my daughter. What do you think of it? Does it sound feminine enough? I don’t mind if it’s a unisex name, just that it sounds slightly feminine. Comments appreciated!

My daughter has a friend (female) named Rio. I don’t think of it being particularly male or female as a name.

I have only met girl’s with the name, so I would automatically think girl.

I don’t like it as a girl’s name. I don’t really like it as a name in the first place but for a couple reasons I would prefer it on a boy. First, ending in an O gives me a more masculine feel and since it means River and I’ve only like River on boys, then I only like this on boys too. i’ve never even met someoen with this name so I wouldn’t be biased too.

With the strong "O" ending, to me it sounds 100% masculine. Though it really doesn’t sound like a proper name at all - boy or girl

My name is Rio and I’m a 16 year old girl!! I personally love my name, and I’ve never met anyone who hasn’t liked it as well (at least to my face lol). Going through school and extracurriculars, I was NEVER ever made fun of or teased because of my name; and everybody I meet always compliments it, saying that its pretty, exotic, awesome, that they’ve never really heard it before and find it unique. I’ve never had any weird nicknames either, although I occasionally get sung the Rio song by Duran Duran or get called Rio De Janeiro by my friends. People usually pronounce it correctly, and my cousin even named her new baby after me! I like having a different name that you dont hear every day; and your little girl will never have more than one Rio in her whole school that’s for sure! I know it can be for either gender, but its definitely feminine enough, I’ve never met a boy Rio, and I don’t think your daughter will have any problems with her name! Oh, and my middle name is Michelle (family name) if that gives you any ideas! Hope I helped a bit!! Good luck, I’m sure no matter what she’s named your daughter will be beautiful! :)

My 20 year old daughters name is Rio and she loves her name. She never had 20 other girls in her class with the same name. The name always rang feminine to me.
