Cecilia vs. Cecily

We cant decide between these two. I really dont like Celia because it just sounds likes a nn to me, and im worried that Cecily may be too strange but Id rather have a more unique name than Cecilia. what do you guys think?

I agree that Cecilia would work better as a mn, becauase it is more formal. I like Cecily. Have you thought about Cicily (sis-a-lee) as an alternative?

I prefer Sicily. I think Cecily sounds and looks a tad odd. Cecilia is nice but it’s very formal. You can always name her Cecilia and call her Cecily.

Maybe Celina?

i like them both a lot spelled and pronounced as they are. i like the suggestion of cecilia called cecily, but i don’t think cecily is strange at all. its a beautiful classic to me and i would love to see it used!

I like the idea of Cecily as a nn for Cecilia. i havent thought of that! However, ive really been trying to avoid nicknames all together. Dh really doesnt like Sicily because it reminds him of the restaurant chain Sicily’s Pizza (maybe thats just around here though).
