Name Advice vs. Needed vs. Please Read

I’m looking for some name advice. Ever since I found out I’m expecting a girl, I keep having a dream that her name is Atlantis. I know this is a super crazy name and it may stem from my love of mythology but I can’t shake the feeling that I’m supposed to use it somewhere in her name. Is it crazy to pick a name based on a dream? Has this happened to anyone else and If so, did you use the name? I never even considered this name before but It keeps coming to me. Any advice/Suggestions? Thanks, Carol

I think it’s silly as well as the name, but if you feel you must use just make it her mn.

Thanks. My husband thinks it’s just my hormones and I’m getting anxious for her to be here since we only have a few weeks left until my csection. Are the are any other names that fit the style of Atlantis. I can’t use Athena though. Thank you, Carol

How bout Isla? I cant think of any related to Atlantis sorry. I had a dream I named my daughter Grace but didn’t use that, always wondered what connection there was there to dreaming about it though!

I’ve been wondering about the connection to the dreams too. I did have Katrina picked out but these dreams have me second guessing it. Thanks, Carol

My niece has Atlanta as her "first" middle name because her father loved Stargate Atlantis. Most people who know her name think it’s not an attractive name.

I think you should go with you first choice of Katrina.

If your hubby’s game, use Atlantis as a MN. Hardly anyone will know what her MN is (so no teasing there) and it’s nice to have an interesting story to go with it! I’d rather have a somewhat meaningful (which Antlantis obviously seems to be) middle name than something less "crazy" but also less meaningful.

I think Katrina Atlantis sounds beautiful! Even the flow’s good! I wouldn’t hesitate to use it!!

On the subject of dreams, I’ve had a somewhat similar experience. Although for me it was about our puppy. We knew we were going to get her before she was even born so obviously we were already looking for names.
I dreamt about this puppy who came to me and whose name was the name we finally picked. It wasn’t a name I even remotely considered because it’s very unusual and nothing pet-assosciated at all.
When we finally got to meet the puppy, scarily enough she looked exactly like the one in my dreams and responded to her name immediately! I can’t tell you whether it was just a lucky coincidence or if there was more to it, all I can tell you is that despite it being a name people have a hard time assosciating with a dog, it fits her to a tee and we’ve never regretted it. It really is HER name.

Hope I could help :)

Atlanta! its beautiful!its a variant of the greek name Atalante (Atalanta is another variation). Its thought to come from the mythological name- Atlas ( (bearing, tolerating, strength), the name of a mythological Titan who was made to support the heavens on his shoulders.

With my first I dreamt the gender, with my second just a name - Henry - which I ended up using as the middle name. I felt so connected to the name I had to use it! Good luck

I had a dream when I was pregnant with my first child. It was my grandmother coming to me and telling me that my daughter was going to be named Julia Elizabeth, two names we were not even considering, but they ended up being the names we used.
