Nathaniel Kai vs. Nathaniel Malachi vs. Nathaniel Malakai

I really love the name Kai for our son but my husband does not like it. So we have settled on Nathaniel as his first name and agree that we could us Kai a his middle and I can call him that if I wish. Does Nathaniel Kai Watson sound good? Is Nathaniel Malachi too much of a stretch for me to call him Kai? Also if we do go with Malachi would it be better to spell it Malakai since I would call him Kai and spell it this way or just stay with the traditional spelling? Thank you so much. I think it would be very confusing to the child if dad and mom call him by completely different names.

We wouldn’t do that. We would both either call him Nate or Kai. It is not all that uncommon in our family to have more than one nickname or go by both your first and middle names. Thanks.
