Ezra for a girl vs. ?

NO, I have no intentions of naming a girl Ezra. I would just like to know some thoughts about Ezra possibly being used for a girl in the future as a ’unisex’ name. We don’t know the gender of our baby yet, but, if a boy, we’re considering the name Ezra, which is a name of an old testament prophet, (man) in the bible. I’m only a bit hesitant to use it cause I’ve seen ladies on this site before trying to name their girls Elijah, so..., thoughts, please? thanks.

Most boy names get used for girls so I’m sure this one is too. It’s absurd, imo, but that’s the style lately. With nearly anything you name your son, he might well run into a girl with his name.

Ezra is rising in popularity and is much more popular for boys than girls. Here are the numbers through 2012. The 2013 numbers will be out in May.
