HELP! vs. Sister for vs. Parker Louise
Hi, long story short, we have a daughter named Parker Louise, but she only ever goes by Lise or LEE-zee because she’s so girly and Parker doesn’t suit her at all. We will allow her to make the decision of whether to change her name to Louise Parker instead when she’s older. So now with a daughter on the way, we’re stuck on the name. And our family’s no help, really. Half of them seem to think that since Lise has a boy name then our this baby should too and the other half think she should have a super girly name to go with Lise. And I just don’t want to choose one or the other because you never know if the kid will be girly or tomboyish. Please help us! If you have suggestions, that’s great too, but we really just need opinions on what kind of name to look for! Thanks!~B+T

Pick a name that’s 100% obvious it’s a girl, but that has a nickname that could be boyish, if you’re so concerned. For example, Danielle (Dani), Samantha (Sami), Andrea (Andi), Alexandra (Alex), Christina (Chris).
But honestly, I think it’s better to go with a girls name and let the nicknames come through life. It’s easier to come up with a boyish nickname for a tomboy than to deal with having a fully boys name.

I’d go with what you love. You could go with a name like Andrea so when you discover her personality you could go with Ann, Andy, Rea, etc. as nicknames. I don’t like this thing where your children’s names have to be matchy, or fit into a "type". So go with what you love but (if your curious) some names that fit into what I suggested are:
Andrea (Ann, Andy, Rea, etc.)
Charlotte (Charlie, Char, Lottie, Arlo, etc.)
Delaney (Del, Laney, Dela, etc.)
Cassandra (Cass, Cassie, Sandra, Andy, etc.)
Audrey (Audi, Aud, Rey, etc.)
Good luck, and do what you think is best!

I’d go with a feminine but not frilly name. What sorts of names do you like?

Laurel or Charlotte would be great choices. Charlotte could go by Charlie if she wanted and Laurel has been used as a male name before.

Lauren, Brooke, Paige, Allison, Alexa, or Blair would be good choices, I think. They’re obviously girls, but I could see them fitting a tomboy just fine.
