Thoughts on vs. the name vs. Anomalie
We want to honor 2 people: my sister-in-law, Annelie, and my fiancé’s grandmother, whose name is Omal (ouh-MAHL). We put them together and made up the name Anomalie, which we adore because it sounds cute and has a spunky meaning. Unusual names don’t bother us, but is it too weird?

It makes me think of the word, which I don’t think I’d appreciate being named, personally (especially when I was little. I don’t think I could even pronounce anomaly properly back then). How about...Elma? (annELise, oMAl)

If you think the meaning of anomaly is nice, then you are clearly a troll. You seriously think naming your kid a word that means "abnormal and strange" is nice thing to do? Think of the social meaning of it as well. Anomaly has very negative connotations in life as well. Ex "There was an anomaly in your test results. You may have cancer."

Anomaly means something different, that is unusual. It means something that stands out in a statistically significant way. What is so negative about that? ~poster

It’s just not an attractive name. If you want something which stands out or has a meaning about standing out try Nameberry

Anomaly doesn’t really just mean unique and different; it’s more like a strange thing happening out of nowhere, and not good strange, more like "What the hay it’s Armageddon!" kind of strange...At least, that’s always how I think of it. I see a rift in the sky bridging earth and Apocalypse with Parademons flooding out, heralding the arrive of Darkseid, while Cat Grant reports that a "strange anomaly is happening in Metropolis."
...So, yeah. Do you like Elma?

As if I had not thought about the name at all. and here is it 7years later I also have a 2year old named Jobe and a year old named Apiphany(spelt wrong on purpose) I'm actually quite sad someone else has used the name
