Alexandre vs. Alexander
Would you think it’s weird that a boy who lives in an entirely English-speaking area is named Alexandre? He would probably be called Alex most of the time. Should we just go with Alexander? Nobody here speaks French. We’re not French either, but we’re naming him after someone named Alexandre. Thanks!

^^ Alexandre is pronounced ah-lex-AHND with the r sound just barely making it onto the end. It’s not the same as Alexandra, which would be ah-lex-ahn-DRA.
I think if you want to honor someone, you should use their name. And if he goes by Alex then it won’t matter anyway.

If you are naming him after someone called Alexandre, that’s the way I’d spell it. It’s not pronounced like Alexandra.
