1. how do you pronounce it?
2. if it’s said how I think it’s said, I think it’s ugly. Sorry. I just don’t like the sound.

Fen-oo-la. Her nn would be Fenn or Fenny. Thank you for your opinion.

Finnuala is a more correct spelling, it’s an old Irish, Scottish, or Gaelic name. It’s okay, but a little long and difficult to pronounce. I do much prefer Fiona, which is close.

Are you sure it’s Fennuala and not Fionnuala? The latter is a real, Irish name. Fennuala isn’t.

No way! Sorry. I just don’t think it’s a name that will serve your daughter well in life.

ohhh. Fionnuala! I’ve seen that name before. Never Fennuala. That confused me. I still don’t like it. But now I get it/

No. Her name is spelt Fennuala definitely. I prefer this spelling. It’s definitely Fenn not finn. Her middle name would be Belle, Fennuala Belle.

I don’t care for Fennuala, sorry. It’s a misspelling of Fionnuala, which I think is a lovely name. Something about Fennuala just doesn’t look quite right, imo. Fenella is the Scottish, Anglicized version of Fionnuala. Would that work?

I don’t care for Fenella and I don’t believe it is a misspelling of Fionnuala, I believe something doesn’t look right about Finnuala, however I believe Fennuala looks beautiful. Fennuala has aged very well with my friend, so I believe it shall with my daughter too. Thank you for the input though, but I believe I’m set on Fennuala.

Sorry for the overuse of the word "believe" in the above post, it was unintentional.

Well, alright. Good for you...Though I’m not exactly sure why you asked for opinions if you were set on Fennuala anyway but *shrugs* Whatevs. It certainly isn’t the worst misspelling out there. It’s not bad. Good luck.

I’ve heard of it as Fenella but most don’t go for Fennuala. It definitely ruins the charm of Fionnuala. Plus the nickname Fen is... bad. Why would you name a child after your friend anyway?

When I check on www.behindthename.com, this is what I got:

The name Fennuala was not found. Names that sound similar to Fennuala:

FENELLA f Scottish
FINELLA f Scottish
FINLAY m Irish, Scottish, English
FINLEY m & f Irish, Scottish, English
FINNUALA f Irish, Irish Mythology
FINOLA f Irish, Scottish
FIONNUALA f Irish, Irish Mythology
FIONOLA f Irish, Scottish
PHANOUEL m Biblical Greek
PHANUEL m Biblical, Judeo-Christian PHANUHEL m Biblical Latin
PHUNIHEL m Biblical Latin

So, pick one of those. Of those listed, I like Finola best for ease of spelling and pronunciation.
