Carolyn yes vs. no
Carolyn is a family name and I would like to use it has a first name. I see that lots of older names like Eleanor and Edith are making a come back. But what about Carolyn? I don’t know if it sounds too old. I would rather not have a nickname either, just the full name Carolyn. What do you think? Thank you!

I have a 4 year old cousin named Carolyn. It works perfectly for her. She is a mixture of sweet, sass, and girly. So, I think the name is great for a little girl and doesn’t sound to old at all :)

If ugly old Edith can make a comeback then Carolyn can definitely make a comeback.

I love to see the name Carolyn making a comeback against the "Trendeigh, Yuneek" names parents are coming up with these days. I don’t think it sounds old at all and it ages well. A nickname for when she’s younger can be Carrie, Cara.

I think it’s too old to use now days and she will feel out of place with her age group filled with Kaylee Nevaeh and Brooklyn so maybe Rylynn instead?

Please do not use anything like Kaylee or Rylynn like one poster suggested. Those names are annoyingly trendy and not cute at all.
Carolyn is a lovely, vintage name that would be perfect for a little girl and grown woman.

Why is Rylynn not cute I think it’s a nice replacement for Carolyn has the same letters and ending but just more fun

’Rylynn’ is a trendy, made up eyesore. Carolyn is lovely and definitely not too old fashioned to be used today. I personally prefer old fashioned names to modern ones, and I think she’d fit right in since the trend of tacking lyn onto every other name is very popular right now. Plus, it hasn’t reached the ’hundred year mark’, which means you’ll be ahead of the trend! Please use it, it would be so lovely to meet a little Carolyn instead of another Avery, Harper, or Bella.

Rylynn seems fun, yes. The first thing you look at in a job application is a name. Think about it. If you were a boss and there was two girls trying for a job position, one was Rylynn and the other was Carolyn. Rylynn is super fun and so optimistic! Lol! She throws super cool parties and thinks tests are stupid! Omg! The next is Carolyn, she is very proper and smart and she loves to go to school to learn new things. She is responsible and knows to do the right thing. Which would you choose for the job? The fun one or the well-adjusted to life one?

I don’t think a name determines a personality I have known people named Sophia Michelle and Tara who drink and party just the same amount as a women named Star Destiny and Orchid

Does anyone else notice the people who are suggesting made up names have bad puctuation and grammar skills? The others who like the name Carolyn, have a better understanding of the rules of grammar, punctuation and capitalization. What does that tell you?

You are right poster # 12, a name does not determine a personality. Yet, if you were to hear the name or see it on a piece if paper, then you immediately try to imagine the person. "Don’t judge a book by its cover," is a good lesson in life, but if you saw a man in a ski mask by a bank, what would you think? We can’t help but judge the person based on how they look, talk, or act. It’s human nature.

Caroline is actually very popular at the moment. It has made a strong comeback so I don’t see why the similar Carolyn wouldn’t be just as accepted.

if people can name their kids Blue Ivy Apple or Banjo why can’t they name the baby Rylynn or Nevaeh? I even know a girl on here who wanted to name her daughter Adam can you believe it Adam on a girl

Adam is the worst name for a girl since it means "Man."
Second, just because people do something freely doesn’t mean it’s the right thing to do.

there is no right and wrong in terms of names it’s a question of personal taste plus that girl explained that she wants to name her daughter Adam because it’s the name of her favorite wrestler I think if it means that much to her she should have used it but people on here just explode at her for it

I know a family where two sisters are named Nevaeh and Carolyn. However, the older sister Nevaeh was born years before the younger sister Carolyn and the mom was really young when she had the oldest. Her name style changed by the time Carolyn arrived.
I love the name Carolyn though. It’s so pretty, you should use it.
