First name vs. For middle vs. Name katelyn

Hi Sofia here my bestfriend died in a car crash 2 years ago I’m expecting my 3rd child I have my two godchildren 2 days a week plus every other weekend . My two children are Hayley rose (5) Jacob Daniel (8) my god kids are Bryce carter (5) and Ira Jane (10) I want to name my daughter after my bestfriend her name was katelyn give me first names for her please

1. I think it’s sweet, but you might consider the spelling Caitlin

2. I would ask her kids what they think of the idea because it’s very possible that they would take offense to it. It’s also possible that everyone will only think of your friend when they see your daughter (this happened to a friend of mine growing up) and it just means she’ll never have a name/identity of her own.

I like the name Katelyn spelled this way. Caitlin is terrible in my opinion.

Or maybe just use Kate. Katelyn doesn’t work very well with a lot of names when Katelyn is being used as the middle name. It works better as a first name. Kate, on the other hand, works great as both a first or middle name. Kate could also honor her considering Kate is in Katelyn.

I think it’s sweet you want to use her name, however I would a. Clear it with her kids and b. Use it as a middle name not a first name. Good luck and I hope that helps.

P.s. I think Katelyn sounds perfect with a short and sweet first name:)

Thanks for the feed back my god kids and my children plus my bestfriends husband thought it was a great idea and he said if katelyn was in the same shoes she would do it also ( katelyn was my children’s godmother )
