Hallie vs. Harriet vs. Henrietta

My father, Henry, just passed away a couple months ago and we were thinking of honoring him- however- we’re having a little girl which makes the naming a little trickier- we’re not sure if we want to use it as a first name or middle but if you could help us figure it out? We’re thinking one of these three names somewhere in the name though.

I love that you want to honor him but I don’t like the names harriet and henrietta but the name Hallie is cute and fun yet classy and elegent! But it dosnt sound like Henry that much! I love the name Hemsley though!

Hetty? or Arietty?

Harriet is beautiful! I have to disagree with the first poster though---Hallie IS cute and fun, but it’s not classy and elegant. Harriet and Henrietta fall under those categories.

How about Henriette (awn-ree-ET)?

Hemsley? Thank you, but no. Hetty sounds too much like Hatty to us. Arietty is okay, I didn’t consider that one and would have to think that name over for a bit but it’s not an immediate no.

Thank you, we’ll consider Henriette too.

Henrietta is the most obvious choice to me. I think it would be great for a middle name. Honor names are easily slotted into the middle name spot since they aren’t used in daily life.

I do love the name Halle. To me, it’s not as obvious that it would be an honor name for Henry, but that’s just me.

If you went with Henrietta as a first name, potential nicknames would be Etta or even Halle.

Good luck!

Henley would be pretty and honorable.
