Kiara vs. Ciara vs. Keara

We are Irish & really like the name and look of Ciara but don’t want the soft C sound...we want it to be pronounced KEY-ARE-AH. Which spelling would you suggest to pronounce it this way?

Forgive me if I’m wrong, (because you’re Irish and I’m not) but as far as I know, Ciara is pronounced keer-ah, not key-are-ah. If you live in Ireland, most people would probably pronounce it the first way. If you want the second pronunciation, I’d use the spelling Kiara.

Ciara could be pronounced both Keer-ah or Key-are-ah. Keer-ah is the Irish Gaelic way of saying it, then there’s the English version sounds like Sierra. So one name, three ways, worried it may not be pronounced the way we like:(

Well I like Kiara. I think it looks pretty and will be pronounced incorrectly the least of the three.

First poster here; in that case, I think the spelling Ciara is prettier.

Interesting! I’d only heard the Kyeer-ah/Keer-ah as well. Good to know! Chiara is definitely pronounced the way you want it pronounced, but maybe you don’t want an Italian name?

I’m Dublin born and bound, Ciara has never been pronounced key-are-ah, ever in history.
Ciara is pronounced Keer-a.

I’ve never actually seen Chiara at all as a name...worried someone would pronounce it Chee-ar-ah? Maybe Kiara solves the problems but I think Ciara looks prettier. Maybe this needs to be an option for a middle name though!! :)

I have only ever seen Key-are-ah spelled Kiara, so if that is the pronunciation you want I would definitely go with that spelling :)

Ciara is See-Air-Uh
Keara is Keer-Uh
Kiara is Key-Are-Uh
The obvious answe is Kiara.
Kiara was also on lion king. So people will pronounce it that way.

If you want the Key-are-ah sound, then Chiara is the name -- that’s the Italian spelling, and pronounced like you like it. Kiara is ok. Ciara leave much room for wondering about pronunciation.
