Ophelie vs. Ophelia

Ophelie is pronounced o-FAY-lee. Ophelia is pronounced o-FAY-lee-uh. In both cases our little girl’s nickname would be Faye. Which do you like better? We do not need, nor want, any suggestions unless it’s for a middle name. Thanks! Isabel, Silas, and baby girl.

Ophelia because that’s how Shakespeare spelled it in Hamlet, and that’s what most people will expect for spelling.

Hm...neither is the standard pronunciation for the name...I’d go with Ophelie, though, because it has the FAY sound for the nickname Faye.

Ophelia, at least in Shakespeare, is said oh-FEE-lee-ah. Are you planning on putting an accent on the e?

In reply to Commenter #4, yes there will be an accent, I don’t know how to use the accent key on my computer though.

I think you’re more likely to get the pronunciation you want with an f instead of a ph.
