Layla/Leila vs. Hawaiian name?

Hi everyone! I named my daughter Layla. Love love love it and everyone compliments how beautiful it is. The Arabic meaning is born at night or goddess of the night. Lately a few people have told me it’s also Hawaiian. In fact my best friend who is Hawaiian has a niece named Laila. She said that is the Hawaiian spelling and it means flower from heaven. I love that meaning. Really is what my beautiful baby is. But is it true? I have scoured the internet and I don’t see that meaning any where. Can anyone confirm this?

I looked it up, but everywhere I looked it said it meant "there" in Hawaiian.

It sounds Hawaiian, and a lei is the flower necklaces they put on you there. Malia is also Hawaiian if you need another similar girl name.

Leila is beautiful. I love it. I know it mean’s night beauty is Arabic. It sounds Hawaiian but I can’t find a Hawaiian meaning for it. It’s really similar to the Hawaiian name Leilani. Leilani means heavenly.

Leilani is made up of Lei (flower, flower garland) + Lani (sky, heaven)

Laila actually means "There" at that place, for that reason, or belonging to that place. It depends on how you use it. It's mostly used in sentences as a place or a place in time. Leilani is flower from heaven. Leila in Hawaiian means almost the same as your daughters name Layla. It means Dark night.

While a beautiful thought, this is not true. Laila in hawaiian is pronounced lay-la and means there/then. Leila is not a hawaiian word, although it looks like it could be. Leilani, which looks the most like a variation of layla, is a common name which is made up of 2 hawaiian words- lei meaning wreath or necklace of flowers and lani meaning heaven, so heavenly wreath or heavenly necklace of flowers. But Leila is not hawaiian and Laila would be uncommon to claim as a hawaiian intended name as it does not have a strong enough meaning of significance in the hawaiian language/culture to be given as a name.
