Yes to Josephine vs. No to Josephine
I really love this name and my husband likes it as well. My husband was talking with some family member and it slipped out that we were thinking of naming our baby girl Josephine. Now most of the ones that know dislike the name. One thing they keep telling me is it sounds like and old lady’s name. Old ladies start life as babies they don’t just pop 0ut of no where. Anyway what do you all think of the name.
The Top Baby Name is...

I think it’s a lovely classic name. I know a gorgeous two year old name Josephine! It fits her perfectly. Josie is a cute nickname that you could use as well. Good luck!

I don’t want an older sounding name. I just really like this name. I won’t mind if they end up using a nickname for her.

I love it. Old lady names are very much current again. Examples are Ivy, Olivia, Elizabeth, Charlotte, Evelyn, Ava, Amelia, Eva, and so forth. Josephine will always be lovely and classic.

voted yes because don’t be swayed by others - you like it? your hubby likes it?..... you use it. I don’t like it but that’s personal opinion. How about nick-naming her Joey as a baby? Josephine will grow on her as she grows older. Good luck.

It’s not really an old lady name anymore. It’s a little kid name now. Check out the popularity numbers. Josephine has been rising steadily for quite a while and it at #160 as of 2012. The last time it was that popular was 1951, so it’s as much a little kid name as an older person name. The 2013 numbers will come out late this week or early next week, so you can check more recent numbers soon.

I think Josephine is gorgeous. Out of all the "old lady names" I think Josephine is pretty high in popularity right now. It’s definitely making a comeback.
