Shanti vs. Shandy/i vs. Sandy/i

My boyfriend and I are big surfers and live right on the western coast! We love beachy/surfer names for our children! We are down to these three names for our daughter; due any day now! She will be joining big sister Mia (1) Also please tell us whether you like the y or i ending for spelling. Thanks, Ana

I don’t like any of those three names. But if you’re going to use one of them, spell it with the Y, it’s much classier.

Talulah is pretty, but my boyfriend hates it. Thanks for the suggestions though. We are still open to suggestions btw. If it helps, if we had a boy we would have named him Sasha

Pearl is very pretty! But I feel it makes a better middle name.

I LOVE Sasha on a boy. Definitely, use that when you have a boy. I think it’s so handsome and charming.

I didn’t see post #4 until now! But thanks so much for the suggestions! I think you’ve hit our style right on the spot! We love Kailani because it honors my grandma, Kay. Also Ondine has a really cool meaning, but how do you pronounce it? Thanks! -Ana

I think sandy is incredibly cute. I’d definately spell it with a "y" though. I also like coral for a name

If you live in California, you could call her Cali.

omg! I love all of those names meanings! I will have to make a list and bring them up to my boyfriend later! Thanks so much! It would be great if you could keep giving me names with beautiful beach/surfer meanings! Thanks a bunch!

I like Sandy but I’d name her Alexandra and call her Sandy.

Shanti reminds of shanty towns, which isn’t at all a pleasant connotation. Shandy just sounds really awkward, and I’m sure people will hear it as Sandy. Out of the three, Sandy is your best option, and the beach connection is the closest and the name itself isn’t bad. However, I find Sandy very dated. I’m thinking like Sandy from Grease, so 50s, 60s, 70s.
