Rebecca vs. Rebekah
Hi there, I have always wanted to call my daughter Rebekah/ Rebecca since I was very small. However, now I have the opportunity I’m totally stuck for which spelling. I feel biased toward Rebekah in one way, as I first loved the name as I was a huge fan of a beautiful Australian soap star - Rebekah Elmaloglou from Home and Away) BUT some people have suggested to me that the Rebekah spelling might appear to be a spelling mistake, or worse still a cre8ve choice (despite the fact this is the first biblical version of the name.) All that said I have no problem with the Rebecca spelling either. Your honest opinion s what I’d really like. MN suggestion welcome too. Thankyou. XxX

I’ve always heard Rebekah to be the Hebrew version of the name and I’ve never heard it as a mistake. I personally think its very pretty. Rebecca is as well but just go with whatever you like best.

I prefer Rebecca. Even though both may be legitimate, Rebecca has become the standard spelling, and so Rebekah just looks like a spelling mistake.

I much prefer the spelling Rebekah! I think it looks nicer. I will say though, I am a stickler for things being spelt correctly and this is the original correct spelling of the name!

I perfer Rebecca over Rebekah (biased though since it’s my name). It’s just easier not to have to explain a million times that it’s spelled with a k since most people will automatically spell it with a c...but I have to admit I actually fell in love with one of my friends names- her parents went even further to the name Rivkah which is the Hebrew name that Rebekah/Rebecca came from.
