Amber vs. Pretty? vs. Too trashy?
We’ve always loved a Amber for a little girl, but when we started telling people we were considering it, they kept going on about how trashy and "low class" it is.
I don’t see how a name determines your position in society. But what do you think?

It has to do with association of names. usually how they see them in public and yes I’ll admit usually Amber is used on the low class trashy girls on TV. Just like the name Roxy is seen that way or Destiny is seen that way. because it’s the type of character that gets those names.

What you name your newborn baby does not determine the character/personality the child is going to have. And I personally have never seen the name Amber on any trashy girl. The three Ambers that I know are very nice, pretty and high class. Names do not determine a person’s character, how that person was brought up or raised does. I love the name Amber and that’s why my 2 year old daughter’s name is Amber Leigh. Now, Ember I would consider a trashy name but, not Amber.

I LOVE Amber. I agree with poster 4 and I really don’t agree with poster 1. I’ve only ever seen the name Amber on Teen Mom and that girl wasn’t trashy she was just crazy but, that doesn’t mean that your daughter is going to grow up like other girls that have been named Amber. Otherwise, I’ve definitely never seen the name on any trashy girls.

I don’t think Amber is trashy, but it makes me thing of the classic stuck up, blonde "mean girl". I also prefer Ember to Amber, especially since it comes with the nn Emme

All the ambers I know would be considered trashy so that’s the first thing I would think if I heard of a girl with the name, but after people meet her hopefull they won’t think she’s trashy. Unless you all are trashy people.

I don’t consider it trashy atall! Nor would I consider Carlett, Ruby, Violet or Cerice as trashy either! They’re all color/gem names if you think about it. If you love Amber go for it! It kind of reminds me of Tiffany Amber Thieson who I always liked. I myself am considering Amber as a mn. GL!

Super trashy name. I've never met a girl named Amber who wasn't extremely trashy. As another commented, Ember is even trashier. As for those posting about how they don't understand how a name can be trashy, it's because trashy people get knocked up, gravitate toward certain names, and end up using them on their spawn. If you want a teenage pregnancy on your hands and a daughter who peaks in life as an esthetician in a cheap nail salon, definitely name your daughter Amber or Ember.
