Neveah vs. Nevaeh

Which spelling do you prefer for this name. Yes, we know that traditionally it is spelled Nevaeh because that’s heaven spelled backwards, however that isn’t why we chose the name and we also like the other spelling. Thanks! Allyssa and Gabe, Soren and Lacey.

A trendy spelling of Nevaeh? Wow, that’s a new low.

It’s bad enough as it is, just spell it the way people expect, Nevaeh.

Horrible, tacky name. Neve (neev, Irish) is much prettier and very similar.

I think is a BEAUTIFUL name and anyone who says otherwise is wrong. I like it spelled Neveah, very classy.

Ewww. Neve is way too close to the medical condition of a Nevus.

Niveyah

How about Nivea?

If you’re not going to spell it the correct way there is no point in using it at all. It’s the most tacky name around anyway but spelling it wrong just makes it worst and I didn’t think that was possible.

Nivea is a lotion isn’t it? And seriously, do you think you could pick a more ugly/tacky/all together terrible name for your poor daughter? Get a clue.

Poster 3, when I asked my friends the most tacky awful name they could think of they said Nevaeh. It is terrible. No one thinks of Nevus, Nivea is a medicine. Neve is beautiful!

I thought of Nevus.

Ok, not a fan of the name, but it’s also not my child. This website is for helpful advice, not hateful insults. If you don’t like the name, either suggest a better one that isn’t a medicine or medical condition, or move on . Ultimately it’s her choice what she names her child, and we have no right to be so harsh.

I would spell it the most expected way, less confusion/correcting.

I have to agree that already using a made-up name and spelling it even more uncorrectly reflects badly on your tastes. Doesn’t matter what your reason for choosing it is, no one will ask, they will all just secretly say that it is a silly ridiculous name no matter how you spell it. Heaven backwards is Hell point one, Neveah technically isn’t even pronounced correctly phonetically that is point two, and finally point 3 is that it is overly trendy, dated, incorrect, and a main choice among lesser endowed families making it a favorite in lower class areas. Pick something beautiful and uncommon not a butchered mess of letters with a sweet but misguided meaning and message behind it. It ultimately is your daughter but do keep in mind it is her that has to live with it not you therefore she will hear most of the "harsh" but truthful spiel that you are now recieving. It just isn’t recieved well by people who actually love grammar and knowledge. GL

This is for a boy, not a girl. FYI.

You can under no circumstances name a boy this name. just when I don’t think people can get any stupider someone wants to name a boy Nevaeh. and I don’t care if people think what i said is mean because it’s the truth.

I don’t really understand the big outcry against this name. Sure the whole heaven spelled backwards thing is a bit out there, but if you take that away and just say the name out loud, it has a very nice sound, I think. There is not shortage of names that sound 10x more crazy than Nevaeh. Just a thought, the responses seemed a bit drastic.

part of it’s because it sounds tacky and the trend of it started with Teen moms with makes it sound 10x more tacky and with this woman wanting to name a boy this it’s crazy.

I think Neveah is a beautiful name and it's on our list if we are getting another girl this time around. All the people leaving rude comments should just be ignored. People will always have an opinion on names and I'm sure that whatever they have called their kids wouldn't even be names we would consider. In the end you will hold your beautiful baby girl and call her Neveah (and yes I like that spelling more too) and everyone will know her as that and she will be loved. I don't understand where people even come to the idea to think it's okay to write such hateful comments on a name.
