Debra vs. Deborah

Hi! We need some real help in deciding how to spell our daughter’s name. We will definitely pronounce it deb-ra, not deb-uh-ra as I’ve heard some people do, so I think that the Debra spelling keeps it simpler, makes our prefered pronounciation more obvious and we usually favour shorter names so it’s more likely to fit with any future children we might have. However, my husband likes the more "classic" feel of Deborah and the link to Deborah Kerr, who’s one of his favourite actresses. Which spelling do you think we should use?

I would say the more conventional spelling is Deborah, but I’ve seen both spellings often enough I don’t think people will think Debra is strange. I’ve only heard Deborah/Debra as a 2-syllable name no matter the spelling.
