Rain vs. Raine vs. Raina

I love the name Rainy/Rainey, but I fear it’s too nicknamey. So I figure it can be a nickname for Rain(e) or Raina, but I feel that changing Raina to Rainy is unnecessary because they’re the same number of syllables. That brings me to Rain which I like, but since it’s a nature name it feels limiting because then I can’t use other nouns for other children and the nickname would be Rainy, not Rainey, and I like the meaning Rainey more than Rainy. But I don’t like the name and meaning Raine as much as Rain. Help?

You can spell the nickname however you want. Also, you can name her Raina and still call her Rainey. There’s no rule saying a nickname must be fewer syllables. Or just name her Rainey if that’s what you love! I like Raina and Rainey better than Raine/Rain.

I have always loved the name Rainey by itself. I think it’s absolutely beautiful and it can age well too. I really hope you reconsider Rainey!

Other names like that.
