Rohnan Alexander vs. Ronan Alexander

We prefer the spelling Rohnan which I found in a Baby name book, but I have googled it and nothing really comes up. Does anyone know the origin/meaning- is it still Irish/Celtic meaning "little seal or promise"? thanks.

There are a million baby books out there and many of them have names like Jordianity and Ohliviya in them. I wouldn’t go with Rohnan. It just looks off.

I do believe that Ronan is the now favored traditional spelling of the name. Old Irish may have spelled it differently but probably not too much. Rohnan is just an alternate spelling of Ronan, much like Gayle is an alternate spelling of Gail.

You mentioned before that you wanted John with Rohnan but it didn’t look right. If you put the two together, you’d be safe to assume that Rohnan was pronounced Rahn-an like J-ahn.

Irish names are very, very popular so googling the name and not getting an answer pretty much solidifies the fact that the spelling isn’t that acceptable.

Gayle is my mother’s middle name! :D Rohnan does look like it would be pronounce (RAWN-un) not (ROW-nun). Just stick to the regular spelling. It will make his life so much easier. The H isn’t necessary. Good luck!
