Bess ? vs. ? Bess

We are expecting our first baby girl soon and want to use the name Bess for her (my grandmother’s name). I have fallen in love with it but I am getting mixed feedback on it so we are looking at it as a middle name maybe. What do you think? I would love some help either with finding a first name to go with Bess or a middle name for her. Her big brother is Odin Garth. Thank you so much. Shanda and Garth

I like it as a nickname, but I think it’s a bit too cutesy as a full name (for an adult, anyway.) Could you use it as a nn for Elizabeth, Beatrice, or Bethany/Bethann?

I think Bess would be fine as either a first or middle name, but I think that since you like it so much, you should use it as a first name. I also really like that name! Its pretty uncommon nowadays, which is nice. Uncommon names are good. Its also just a really nice name.

I’m sorry, I find Bess really unattractive. I would either use it as a middle name or find a longer first name and then let your child decide if it’s a nickname she likes.
