Allie vs. Lexie (Lexi) vs. Alex

Hey everyone! I am trying to help my aunt decide on a nickname for her new baby girl, Alexandra. She is concerned that many of the nicknames for Alexandra sound more appropriate for a child than an adult. In your opinion what sounds like a nickname that will maintain a sense of "professionalism" when Alexandra is older? Thanks!!

As an Alix, fully named Alexandra, I can say that Alex does just fine for me professionally. I went by Allie briefly and never had a problem transitioning. Usually, in a business or professional setting, I will use Alexandra. Many people have childhood nicknames that they ditch or only use with friends or family when they’re adults. Her nickname doesn’t have to go into the business world. We don’t call the President Barry for instance.

I think Allie or Alex would be your best bet. Lexie sounds very juvenile. You could also use Andy/Andie...

I love Allie and I think it works well for a child and an adult. Alex does as well but I’m not so fond of it. I think Lexie sounds very juvenile and, whilst it could be a cute nickname while she’s a child, I doubt it’s one that will carry through to adulthood

I think Allie is the classiest of the three. I’ve known Lexie’s that have been referred to as Sexy Lexie, so that doesn’t exactly scream class. And I don’t like Alex, because it seems common and dated.
