stella vs. girl

I need an older mothers point of view! I know ’Stella’ is popular now, but I also know that is in an older name that made a comeback. I need something fresh pretty and a little edgy. What are your thoughts on the name Stella? Does it sound old ladyish? I dont like Starla or Esther or Estella. Would you pick Stella out of those names or is it just another old fashion name? Please explain if you like Stella or Not

I like the name Stella. In fact, I used to have it on my top ten names list for girls, I took it off after I while but I still appreciate it. I don’t think of an old lady, I think of a little girl when I hear it. Stella is an older name, but it has all the qualities of a more popular name. It’s short, simple, girly, and sweet. Names like Lucy, Sadie, Ava, and Emma fit it that category too. And those are more popular names. So in short, yes I like Stella.

I like it - I think its spunky! However I wouldn’t personally use it due to its becoming very popular right now. You may also like Ruby and Phoebe?

Like you I am not sure about it so to me that says don’t use it. If any doubt exists about a name I feel it isn’t the right one.
A similar name I like is the French name Sylvie and find it so much prettier and younger than Sylvia.
