Kelley for a vs. boys middle name?

My grandfather’s name was William Kelley, and I really would like to honor him in our son’s name. I was wondering if you think people would make fun of my son in this age of time for having a "girly" name. His first name will be Madden (which is unisex). What do you think?

I think Madden Kelley is a great name!! Madden to me is mainly a boy’s name, and most people won’t know his middle name unless they ask. Besides I quite like Kelly on a boy.

I agree with the other comment. How often do you use your middle name. I think it’s great, as my maiden name is also Kelley. My daughter is grown now but I almost named her Kelley. Kelley for a middle name boy or girl is great.

Madden is unisex now too? How do people keep up with what’s unisex now?

I think Madden Kelley would be fine. As someone said, your middle name doesn’t often come up in conversation. And it’s great that it honors his great grandfather.

I don’t think Kelley is horrible a boy’s middle name, but I do think it might be a middle name that he won’t want to tell people what it is because it’s a girl’s name. I know if I saw the name Madden, I would assume boy, but if I saw Madden Kelley, I would think girl.

I know about equal numbers males and females named Kelly. I really wouldn’t consider it a girl name specifically. It works great for either.

Personally I actually prefer KElley on a boy! Same with Shannon
