I want to use vs. Simon

Hi everyone. I don’t have much family and the person I am closest to is my best friend. We’ve known each other since childhood and I feel that I can be pretty open with her. We have similar tastes around 50% of the time but differ just as often. I recently told her that I like the name Simon for a boy lately and her reaction upset me a bit. She literally urghed my name. I know it has some bad associations for her because of an ex but I don’t think she’s looking at the name objectively, on its own merits. How would you rate Simon, on a scale of 1-10? Please be honest and thank you~ Karen

I don’t mind it if I’m being honest. It’s not my favourite, but it’s okay. I say go with what YOU like :D

I love the name Simon. I’d give it a vey solid 9. But bad personal associations with a name can permanently ruin it for you. So I can understand your friend’s feelings. I have names I really dislike because of a bad association.

On a scale of 1-10, I would say it’s a 9 for me. I think it’s so handsome and it’s not overly popular. The only setback about the name is the whole ’Simon Says’ thing. I think the nickname Si is adorable. You might also like Silas. Bottom line is that this is your baby and if you love the name, you should use it.

I just don’t think Simon is all that attractive. And that’s going to suck when he’s a kid if they ever play "Simon says..."

I’d give it a 7, possibly 8 depending on how it flowed with middle and last name. I rather like the fact that it isn’t used much, but everyone knows the name and how to pronounce it.
As for the game "Simon says..." he’ll get to RULE the game!
