Madelena vs. Madalena vs. Madelyna

Hey! I love the name Madelena for a girl, it means "from the tower" in Hebrew. My husband doesn’t like the two e’s so close to each other, so he offered some variations: Madalena and Madelyna. I don’t like both of them because Madalena lacks Madelena’s grace and Madelyna is made up, but he is completely set on them! Which one do you like the best? And what is your opinion on these names? Thank you :)

Would you consider the Italian spelling, Maddalena?

I’m probably the only one, but even though all the names sound the same, I like the look of Madelyna the best. I think it will be easier to pronounce because you think of Madelyn with an a at the end. Unlike a lot of names with "kool" spellings (Addyson you know I’m talking about you) this is actually a really good spelling with great nickname potential (Maddy, Lena).

To the poster above, I’m pretty sure they don’t want that pronunciation considering she found the spelling Madalena first, and -lena is pronounced "lay-nah." Madalyna would be the one that would be mispronounced an it definitely looks made-up to me. I like Madelena and Madalena much more! I also like one of the poster’s suggestion of Maddalena.

Or
Magdalena

It depends. If you pronounce it mad-uh-lay-nah then go for Madelena or Madalena (I would go for Madelena). If you want Mad-uh-lee-na then go for Madelina (not Madelyna as it looks made-up).

It’s a pretty name. I prefer Madelena...or Madalena, if you must change the spelling. I wouldn’t use Madelyna...the spelling would cause confusion.

My daughter is Madelena (pronounced mad-uh-lay-nah) and her nickname is Lanie. It is a beautiful name.
