Eugenia vs. Eugenie
Which one? My husband really likes the name Eugenia (his only girls name suggestion for any of our children) and since I chose all the others, I feel like we should use it this time. Her nickname would be Genie. When we mentioned it to our neighbour, his son thought we were naming her Genie after the tennis player, Eugenie Bouchard, and he thought it would be cool to be named after an athlete. So my question is, would Eugenie seem more modern to people, compared to Eugenia, because it’s the name of a current athlete? I don’t think Eugenia is a bad name and I don’t mind using it because my husband loves it, but I do feel it’s a bit old. What do you think? If it helps, our older children are Victoria (Tori), William (Will), Alice (Lissy), Bridget and Christian (Chris). Thanks!

I’d go with Eugenie. While Eugenia does fit with the style of your other kids’ names (traditional British/English), it still stands out because it’s the only one not used commonly these days. So having a good story (like being named after a star tennis player) makes a pretty good story to tell friends at school :)

No. None are modern, dated and ugly, she’ll get teased within an inch of her life. Don’t do that to your child. At least where I live, a child could never wear that without getting picked on mercilessly. Use it as a middle name if you must.
That last comment seems a little extreme! Old-fashioned names are in style; Eugenia will be unique but still fit right in! Beautiful name.
