I love Ari! I pronounce it like are-ee. I think the Arie spelling doesn’t look right. The spelling Ari is much better.

Ariana nn Ari would be cute. Or Arabella or Araminta or Aria or Arielle with the nickname Ari.
Arie doesn’t make it look more feminine imo.

I think of it primarily as a girls’ name, nickname for Ariana. I would NOT change the spelling as it might lead some people to mispronounce it. I see no problem using Ari for a girl, except the possibility that some will assume she has a longer name and that Ari is just a nickname.

I would say Are-ee. Arie would make me think it’s AIR-ee. My niece’s name is spelled Auri, which I’ve always thought pretty.
Thank you! I was also leaning towards the Ari spelling and hoping most people would know to pronounce it Are-ee.
Any thoughts for middle names? I was thinking something feminine. 6 letters if possible but I am open to names that don’t have 6 letter

Are-ee. And I like it on a girl. I only know girls with this name (both are Ariana though).

Ari Celeste is on my list. Celeste is hard to sell to my husband because he thinks it sounds old lady-ish but I think I could still potentially talk him in to it.

I agree that Ari is a nickname. I strongly suggest using it as a nickname for a full name like Aria, Arielle, Ariana or Arabella. Give your daughter a full name that she can use professionally, and you can use Ari as a nickname. Trust me-- she will thank you!

My concern with giving a "full" name is that it would never be what we call her because we would always call her Ari and she would alway have to be correcting people when they saw her "full" name on paper. I know many people who go by a nickname who wish their parents had just named them that name to begin with.

I have only ever seen Ari as a nickname or a boy’s name. The two of you may love the name Ari-- but I would definitely give her a full name so that she has the option of using it in case of teasing or in case she would just prefer to have a more feminine name. While my name is Kristin, I go by Kris with the people closest to me, because my parents adore it. I love the nickname Kris, but I would be very upset if my parents had only named me Kris and not given me the option of going by Kristin which I use professionally. It is both more professional, and more feminine. It is much easier to correct people who "correct" my full name than be stuck with a name that I constantly have to explain, spell and defend. I think it would be selfish to not give her a full name.

not so much because it is a short name, but because it is more of a boys name?

I disagree entirely. If you guys like just Ari, go with it. There’s zero point in giving her a "full name" if you never intend to call her that on a regular basies.

I’ve only known boys named Ari and it looks incomplete. Aria and Ariana immediately came to mind as full name, with Ari as a nickname. I also like the suggestion of Ariel/Ariella. She may love going by Ari, but at least she would have the option.

Ari is not a full name in my opinion. I strongly suggest using Ariana or Ariella or something similar. I think that Ari is really cute, but I agree that she needs a full name. No matter how cute I think the name Emmanuel is, I plan on calling him Manny. I don’t understand why you would want give your child a nickname that they will only be able to react to themselves half of the time. Like wtf? Take me to "the enchanted forest!"

Ari is cute. But Aria, Arabella and Ariella are GORGEOUS! You can’t go wrong with one of those names! ARI is pretty masculine if you ask me...

I would say it are Ar-ee. If it was spelled Arie, I might think it would said are Air-ee. I personally don’t like it. It sounds like a nickname, and just very incomplete on its own. Not to mention, there’s the pronunciation issue and I just don’t like the sound of it.

My daughters name is Ari but pronounced (Air-ee) and its created a problem haha. Everyone just assumes it is Are-ee! We tried to find another way to spell it such as, Aerie or Arie but we didn’t like how they looked! So I think Ari for Are-ee is the best way to spell it! :)

My daughter's name is Ari. We did not want a longer name because we just wanted Ari. To me it is short and strong. I very much disagree with the person that said it doesn't sound professional. She is now in 4th grade and I've never heard her complain about getting teased. Most people get the pronunciation correct.
