Declan vs. Decklin vs. Decklan

Ok, so I really love the sound of the name Declan, but I hate the spelling. Whenever I see Declan, my first thought is Dee-clan, and then Deck-Lynn. I don’t know what to do! I like both the other spellings listed above. Should I drop the name? Use the original anyways? Use an alternate spelling? Thanks.

"Dek" might work, too? Deklan, Deklin... I don’t know, that’s a tough one! My dad’s name is Declan, and my Mom’s is Moira, so I know how annoying it can be. ;)

I’d either spell it the way it’s meant to be spelled or drop the name altogether.

If you like it go for it but just realize that you’ll have to train his future teachers, friends, and relatives. It’s not that big of a deal. Or maybe the media will do the job for you if there ever is a super famous lil Declan in the future. :)

I think that when it’s spelled any other way than Declan, it looks like duck. My brother’s name is Declan, and he never has it mispronounced.

I dont think Declan is prone to mispronunciation at all. Youre overthinking it. Go with Declan!

I don’t think changing the spelling would be, because I’ve never liked Declan either. I would be careful in how you change it, because certain spellings may make it look girly. Decklin isn’t bad, and looks masculine.

My daughter is spelling her son's name Deklyn. She's due any day.
