Isla pronounced Eye-lah vs. Isla pronounced EE-sluh vs. WDYT

Hi, I’m having my first daughter soon and love the name Isla. Unfortunately, when I told somebody they said they liked the other pronunciation better, which I didn’t even knew exsisited. Please vote for which ever one you think of when you look and the name... Thanks, Catherine

There is only one legitimate pronunciation - Eye-lah. You wouldn’t pronounce island like EE-sland. The two words are related.

There is only one legitimate pronunciation - yes. You can’t take a name based on a word that has an actual pronunciation and change it just because.

I prefer the Scottish pronunciation "Eye-lah". "Ees-lah" is how you pronounce the Spanish word isla.

The EE-sluh pronunciation does not exist. Eye-lah is the only one.

There is only one correct pronunciation and it is Eye-luh. It’s a gorgeous name.

Isla as a NAME is eye -luh. Isla as spanish WORD is eeslah.
