Scottlyn ? vs. Scotlynn ?

Hi, I LOVE the name Scotti for a little girl (we haven’t decided on a middle name yet) but I am wondering who likes/dislikes the name. My dad’s name is Scott & my mom’s middle name is Lynn so I like it even more because I would get to honor both of them. What do you guys think? (also which spelling is best??) and any middle name suggestions would be appreciated too :) Thanks!

I think it sounds too much like Scotland. (Though it is a very nice sentiment to honor your parents and I have nothing against Scotland.)

I’m sorry, but I think it looks rather tacky. I would use Lynn in some other way for a girls name and save Scott for a boy.

Maybe use Scotland as a middle name. I wouldn’t use it as a first name ever.

Her name will be mistaken for Scotland (the country) constantly and it’ll drive her nuts. It might be best to use Scotlynn as a middle name.

Honestly if I saw it I would think oh that girl’s teenage mother creatively spelled Scotland.

What’s so difficult about Scotland? Scotlyn is terrible!

Sorry, but I am not keen on the name either. if you really have to use it then use it as a middle name.
I would have a rethink though as she really does deserve her own name and not a combination of her grandparents names..

It’s not a horrible name, though it does sound super trendy because of the adding of "lyn/lynn" to the end of the name. Scottlyn looks the best, but you might as well use Scottlynn if those are the names being combined.

Hi! It's a long shot that you'll answer, but I wanted to see what you ended up doing! My daughter's name is Scottlyn Grace and I find most of the comments to above terribly rude! We chose the name also bc we loved Scottie as a girl's name. While I know it's not in everyone's taste, I could care less if sound alike Scotland, or if others like it. However, I just found the comments edged with nastiness I wondered if it changed your mind at all.

We named our daughter Scotlynn - specifically to honor her Great Grandmother, who was 93 at the time and born in Scotland. Well it's been 5 years, her Great Grandmother is now 97 and still kickin and we still love the name. It's unique, but also familiar.

Hey! My name is Scotlyn Elizabeth (I also go by Scotlyn, no nicknames). My dad's name is Scott; the "lyn" is to feminize Scott. Dont let these comments deter anyone from naming their child what they like. I was not bullied, picked on, or made fun of even once for my name whilst going through my 11 years of school. People actually complement my name often. My name was also confused for Scotland 9 times out of 10 when meeting someone new. It is also commonly spelt incorrectly, even on awards that I have received. It was quite annoying in elementary school, but I have learned to get over it and laugh. I am in no way angry at my parents for the name I've been given. If I ever had the chance to change it, I wouldnt. Hope this helps anyone looking through the comment section, seeing everyone's dislike of my name. :)

My granddaughter is named Scottlyn Elise. She has received positive feedback on her name and has never been made to feel her name is anything but unique. She was named after her grandfather that passed several months after she was born. She loves her name and in her public school class there are other children with names equally distinct and unique.

Decided the randomly google the name that we are thinking about for our potential daughter. I'm 7 weeks and we do not yet if it's a boy or girl, but my husband thought of this name and I love it! I have a hard time liking any girl names but do love Ireland, Scotland and Holland. He liked those but wasn't a 100%. Funny enough, he is a Scott lol. Our little boy is Brady and we have some other boy names picked like Beau and Finn. Our little kids are 1/4 Japanese and the rest Irish, Japanese last name, so love the idea of Names like this without last name because it is a bit unexpected. These first comments in this post really had me second guessing it and are extremely rude. Just hoping that if anyone else happens to come on this post and see them, that they will see even more people that love it. We are still deciding on a middle name. We wanted to do Georgia to honor my husbands grandpa, George but not sure if Scotlynn Georgia sounds good together?

We named our daughter Scotlyn Delaney in 2016 ..Her fathers middle name is Scott and mine is Lynn .. I chose to drop a T & N so she didn't have 9 letter first name lol plus it looked better .. I love her name & others have always complimented how pretty it was . My own bugger about it is that people think you're saying Scotland the country and you have to corrrect them .. I tried to look it up in 2015-2016 to see if I could find it in baby names and it was nowhere now well annoyingly it's "trendy"
