Clare vs. Clair vs. Claire

Is Claire still the favoured spelling by most? I think Clare looks more clean to the eye and Clair looks more elegant without the e.. I still like the traditional spelling - just not as much thoughts? also it’s for a mn so people wouldn’t be misspelling it I don’t think..

I think Clare is beautiful, but I pretty much always go with the most common, most widely-accepted spelling of any name. It just makes life easier. So, Claire.

I am a Clare, so whilst I’m biased, I also feel like I’m qualified to write on it.

I really like my spelling, same as the Irish county, and it’s fairly common. Claire is probably slightly more common where I’m from, and many people do throw an ’i’ into my name. However; just as many people seem to get it right and a small amount of people add the ’i’ and take off the ’e’. I find it has less to do with which is more popular but more on the first Clare / Claire / Clair someone meets.

I have known many Claire’s, Clare’s and Clair’s and personally prefer Clair over any of the others, but between Clare and Claire I like Claire, Claire is just so common.
