Uncommon Spelling vs. For vs. Alexandria

I want to name my baby girl Alexandria but I don’t want to spell it the original way. Is there any other uncommon spellings for Alexandria that are useful? Thank you :)

don’t do this. as someone who has a somewhat uncommon spelling of a common name believe me it is freaking annoying. don’t force your child to always have to spell her name to everyone.

No matter how you spell it, it’s still going to be pronounced Alexandria and it’s going to get spelled Alexandria by other people all the time anyway. If you spell it Alexandrya or any other way, she’ll be sentenced to a lifetime of correcting people and constantly spelling and respelling her name. Misspelling her name won’t make her stand out in a good way. Don’t do this to your daughter.

Some of these are going to be crazy, but here goes...
Alexandrea (this one is within the boundaries of normal, but much less common than Alexandria)
Alexanndrea
Alleksandria
Alezandrea
Alexandreeah
Satisfied?

Alecsandria
Alixandria

Of all the spellings that have been suggested, Alixandria is the ONLY acceptable one. The others look ridiculous and would be perceived as so.
I think Alixandria is definitely your best option. Alix was a decently common name for women in the Middle Ages, and Alixandria looks professional and classy, as well as unique and interesting.

How about Charlotte? Now there’s an uncommon spelling for Alexandria.

Snark aside, alternative spellings only make the parents look illiterate, sorry. I know we’re supposed to think of it as a creative exercise. And there are no real "rules" set in stone. But that could be said for all language.

Whutyffaigaughtkre8tyfwithdismecej? Annoying right? That’s how I think of alternatively spelled names. At some point conventions like spelling become a way to ease communication. Am I being absurd and hysterical about it? Yes. Your point? :0)

In the end it’s your decision, not our / mine. Follow your heart. Good luck!

I think Alixandria is the only one that can be both alternative and viable. It looks nice, but is still different.
You might also consider Alissandria, which is slightly different from your original starting off point, but still very lovely and unique.

Even Alixandria looks somewhat silly.

Alycksanndriyuh.

In all seriousness, this is an idiotic idea. First of all, there are no "uncommon" spellings of Alexandria. Alexandria (as the name or as the city) is spelled Alexandria and spelling it any other way wouldn’t be "uncommon;" it would just be incorrect. Secondly, purposely misspelling names doesn’t make them any more unique. It really doesn’t. They are still the exact same names. Just spell it Alexandria or pick another name if that visually doesn’t look outlandish enough for your tastes.

Alessandria? it’s a real spelling. (don’t worry) GL!

I think Alixandria, Alessandria and Alexandrea are your best options. There’s nothing wrong with being a little creative and out of the box but don’t make it difficult for the child, it’s the name they have to live with after all.

If you live in Italy, Alessandria is probably ok. If you don’t live in Italy, most people aren’t going to know that spelling is Italian, they’re just going to presume mom and dad are illiterate.

God, some people are rude. Why don’t they focus on naming their own child instead of criticising the poll maker?

I liked the name Alexandria but I knew a [removed] by the name, so I thought about naming my daughter Either: Alice Andrea or Alice Sandra
Your welcome to use either :)

I have a cousin common name, different spelling she hates it. You can literally feel the anger radiating off of her each time she has to spell it to someone knew. She actually started saying my name is and spelled her name out to avoid confuse about pronunciation and spelling. Her mother apologized to her about the spelling and told her we clearly didn’t realize the pain in the as* it would be to have a "creatively" spelled name.

There is the way I spell it which is Alexandrea

For anyone looking back over old polls because you want to use the same name, or are in a similar situation as this mother was, Aleksandria is a legitimate spelling. Aleksandr is Russian, the feminine version is Aleksandra, and Aleksandria is a twin in both Bulgaria and Poland.
