Aedan (scottish spelling) vs. Aodhan (irish spelling)
Hi, we have decided on the name Aedan/Aodhan Jack for our little boy due next month but we are still debating the spelling. I’m irish and hubby is scottish so with our daughters, twins Caoimhe (key-va) Grace & Eilidh (ay-lee) Rose, we gave one an irish name and the other a scottish name. We don’t want to use the anglicised form (Aidan) as it is too common and we want to honour our heritage. Thanks from Siobhan & Ali.
The Top Baby Name is...

Aodhan gmv. Since the surname (presumably) is Scottish, I went with the Irish first name, to get both heritages in there. It keeps the balance. That, and I’m Irish (U.S.). So I’m biased. Good luck! :0)

Aodhan, but as I’m part Irish, I guess I’m biased. Caoimhe and Eilidh are gorgeous together.

I would go for Aedan just because it gives him a fighting chance at people actually guessing what his name is. But I can tell you that had I seen Aodhan, I definitely wouldn’t have guessed it was said like Aidan.
